I live in Ankaran, Slovenia, and spend most of the days I look for beach to make beach -themed jewelry.
When looking for shells on the beach, I found lots of glass, ceramics, old coins, silver, and other 100 -year -old findings. With some studies, I found that I found so many vintage and antique items because in the past (about 100 years ago), Italian ships will come here and throw garbage in the sea. Over the years, with waves and many storms, historic findings hidden under the mud in the sea were washed on the beach. Not all found washed on the beach. Some are still buried on the seabed with only part of it sticking out.
One of my most proud discoveries was the 200-year-old Maraschino bottle that was not damaged from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After finding it, I returned it to the house to the Cosmacendi Palace, where the bottle maker had lived, and which is now an ancient glass museum! It’s not only extraordinary discovery but also a bottle without evidence that it even exists.
I like to use a piece of history in my jewelry and other creations that make it more special and the like. If you are interested in my jewelry, you can find it on my Etsy.
