Hi friends, happy Friday! So glad you are here. Oh my gosh, it’s so hot and humid here. I just got home from work and had to jump in the shower before I could even sit down to write about some of my favorite things this week.
Now that I feel clean, I can think a little better.
OK, so let’s get into it. Today I have five quick favorite moments from my first week back at work.
1
Firstly, I’m happy to say that this week has been a positive start to the job. After feeling a little uncertain, it’s great to be able to enter the week and feel like things are heading in the right direction. I don’t want to say too much and jinx it, but I’m trying to feel optimistic about this preschool year. Phew!

Hello, shiny new coffee machine! Usually, it’s instant coffee for us at work, so this felt like a big upgrade. I love figuring out which strength and blend I prefer, and yes, this machine stores your own coffee profile. I didn’t even think this was a thing. This was my first real experience in the world of coffee machines, as I only had a plunger at home.
I’ve been drinking more coffee than usual the last few days and had to stop for a moment before experiencing heart palpitations—yikes!

On Monday, I shared that one of the positives of returning to work is that I’m eating healthier. Even though I often look at my salad and wish I had the power to turn it into a Big Mac, I know this is better for me.

Thursday afternoon, Sam sent a message that he had arrived safely in Bali. Maybe one day I’ll get used to it, because I have a feeling he’ll be someone who loves to travel. But I don’t like it when my son is far away on a plane. Even though I know flying is the safest mode of transportation, I can’t help but feel anxious. I wasn’t sure if tracking it on Flight Radar would help either, but I did it anyway.

Steve and I went out for happy hour at Humphrey’s. Congratulations to Sam and his friends for landing safely!

That’s the first week, first semester, over and done with. This work week went much better than I expected, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Yes…yes, I can—I want more weeks like this!
Now it’s time to enjoy a weekend that seems very quiet at home. I don’t have any plans, and I think I’m ready to watch the final season Stranger Things. I put it off because I didn’t want it to end, but the longer I let it go, the more likely it is to get spoilers, right?
Hope you all have a great weekend!
