According to the federation, Groenvold was beaten by lightning On July 12, while on vacation in a remote cabin in Rural Norwegian.
He was quickly transported to the nearest hospital and given emergency treatment.
Although he initially survived the impact, his condition worsened, and he gave up on the severity of his wounds a few days later.

Born on February 28, 1976, in Hamar, Norway, Groenvold began his competitive skiing career in Alpine’s discipline.
As a member of the Norwegian National Alpine Team from the mid -1990s to 2004, he developed at the World Cup circuit.

NHK reported that GrØnvold served as a national ski cross coach for the Norwegian team.
His expertise also made him a respected television commentator, where he shared valuable insights with viewers.

According to NHK, Kjetil André Aamodt, Another Form of Norwegian Olympic Skier, said GrØnvold “is the driving force behind the hockey team that we play, Lambertseter Flyers.”
Aamodt said that GrØvold “really likes sports and is very active. And he is one of the fastest and most agile athletes measured in the test at Olympiatoppen.”

Another GrØNvold teammate at the National SKI Silang Team, Hedda Berntsen, said he and the others recalled him as “athlete and fantastic friends.”

As soon as the tragedy hit, GrØnvold’s wife, Kristin Tandberg Haugsjå, posted a heartbreaking message on social media.
“Audun, my extraordinary love and my best friend for twenty years … today you left us. What started with a beautiful summer vacation ended last Saturday with you with lightning when we came out on us cabin. Even though you quickly receive treatment and be taken to the hospital, you are from your injury last night. Sanna, Selma, William and I will take you with us in our hearts. Your loss is very big. ”
The death of Groenvold went behind a grieved family and three of his children and emptiness in the SKI community closely in Norway.
