In 2002, Canadian photographer Christopher Herwig began working on a very unique series dedicated to architectural wonders that are often ignored from the Soviet bus stop. Herwig captures the essence of these strange architectural pieces and displays their pictures in two books: ‘Soviet bus stop’ and ‘Soviet Bus Stop Vol. 2 ‘. Another interesting project carried out by Herwig and exhibited in this book is ‘Soviet Metro Station’. All three were published by Fuel.

After that, the photographer worked on a film, documented his journey through the former Soviet Republic from Ukraine to Uzbekistan, Armenia to the Far Eastern Siberia, and all points of them, in the hunt for bus treasure for more than 50,000 kilometers. ‘Soviet Bus Stop – Street Poetry’ has the first screening in 2022.
