Hey guys, it’s great to be here with Holly and Sarah on Hello Monday. I always enjoy starting the week with this link and following everyone’s posts. I don’t always have time to read as many blogs as I’d like because it’s usually late at night by the time I connect. And at that time, I was tired after a busy day at work. But I try to catch up the next day… and the next… and the next. Haha, there’s never enough time in the day, right?
Here’s a recap of the weekend. Thank you very much for stopping by 😊
Friday Night
I had some Asian ingredients leftover in the fridge from a creamy coconut peanut noodle dish I made last week – wombok cabbage, coriander and bean sprouts. For some reason, I was craving soup even though the weather wasn’t soup-like.
So on Friday night (we were still in summer time), I walked into Woolworths and bought a BBQ chicken to make a cheat Asian soup. Serve just a few pieces of Massel chicken stock in boiling water, crushed garlic, sliced ginger, soy sauce, a little noodles, wombok cabbage, shredded chicken, plus a sprinkling of green onions, coriander and bean sprouts. Explosion. I have improvised pho ready in a flash.
Steve was at work, and Sam was out with his friends. So it’s just me, my soup, and… Caregiver accompany me on TV.
I saw a young Chuck McGill from Better call Saul in the episode and had to pause it to take a photo for Sam. It’s funny to see actors appearing on old sitcoms from the beginning.

Saturday
Saturday morning lunch.

Then I spent the rest of the day feeling completely bleh without any energy, which was very unlike me. The weather here is very hot and humid, and it is difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Maybe I just didn’t get enough sleep, was tired from the week, or both. So I didn’t do much on Saturday.
Sunday
Then on Sunday, I woke up feeling much better, although the night was uncomfortable again. We have a tower fan in our bedroom, but it is very noisy. It’s always like, do I want a quiet night or a sweaty night? We really need to get another fan.
I think hot cross buns hit supermarket shelves just after midnight on Christmas Day. But this is the first one I have so far. We liked the brioche one best because it was sweeter and moister than the regular one.

I spent the rest of Sunday doing assignments. Not something I wanted to do, but with my birthday last week, the things I usually do during the week have piled up. Oh well, at least it’s all done, and I feel better knowing I can start the new week fresh with no tasks left.
I always said I loved summer until I met a cockroach. And then I love the cold weather because there are no bugs in the winter. That’s how I felt on Sunday night.
I was home alone with Steve at work and Sam on a date. I had been watching a movie on Netflix and was just about to go to sleep when I heard the plop and beep of the induction cooker. At first I thought it was Mochi, our cat (who ran out of the kitchen). I almost got mad at him. He wasn’t allowed on the kitchen bench, and after a lot of automatic spray prevention, he finally learned that.
But no, it wasn’t him because when I turned on the kitchen light. There it is – the biggest, ugliest, hairiest cockroach ever. Horrified!!
About half a can of bug spray later, and me jumping up and down whispering, it was dead. Scroll quickly if you don’t want to see the crime scene.

My friend sent me a message when my soul re-entered my body, so I zoomed in and took a photo to send to him. Then I disinfect everything, only as close to the victim as possible.
My work was done, and there was no way I was going anywhere near that thing, so I left a note for whoever got home first.

And now I’m okay with the fact that fall is just around the corner. Luckily for me, it took most of the summer before I had my first close encounter. Have a great Monday, and see you here on Wednesday.
