Christmas in the small Italian town of Pietracatella has turned into a nightmare after a Mother and he teenage daughter lost their lives mysteriously.
50 years old Antonella Di Lelsi and 15 years old Sara DiVita enjoyed a traditional holiday meal on December 23, which is believed to have caused symptoms of a foodborne infection. They died shortly thereafter, reportedly due to “multiorgan failure.”

According to an Italian news outlet Corriere della Serathe couple had previously visited the hospital emergency room twice. They were reportedly discharged after receiving treatment for a foodborne infection. However, their condition worsened on Saturday, and the mother-daughter duo was declared dead late in the evening.

The next day, Sara and Antonella experienced symptoms of nausea and severe stomach ache. However, Sara’s condition worsened on Saturday and she was in intensive care before she died at around 11 pm local time.
Antonella was also hospitalized the same night, and she died the next day at 11 am. Meanwhile, Gianni was still being treated in hospital for two days and had not yet been released.

Eldest daughter Antonella, aged 18, was also hospitalized as a precaution although she did not share the symptoms her family was experiencing.
“(It is) difficult to determine exactly what food was referred to in the episode,” Vincenzo Cuzzone, head of the Intensive Care Unit at Cardarelli Hospital, said. notified Sardinian Association, adding that both mother and daughter experienced multiorgan failure.

Three doctors working at Cardarelli Hospital and two attending doctors are reportedly being investigated for the deaths of Antonella and Sara. They were allegedly charged with multiple counts of multiple counts of murder, gross bodily harm by negligence, and medical malpractice.
Police collected food samples from the family’s residence in Pietracatella, including canned food and fresh produce. The samples were reportedly sent to the Molise Zooprophylactic Institute in Rome for testing, and an autopsy of the body has also been ordered.

They suspect the flour used in the family’s food may have been mixed with chemicals usually used to exterminate mice.
Gianni, who has served twice as mayor, reportedly also had a flour mill that was allegedly infested with rats for weeks until the mill was disinfected.
A series of highly specialized diagnostic investigations have been initiated to determine the exact cause of the incident.
